This policy explains what personal data Vet Cost Guide collects, why, and what rights you have under UK data protection law.

What we collect
- Information you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it only to reply and to handle your query.
- Analytics data. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: pages viewed, approximate location, device type, and how you arrived. This is collected through cookies and only where you have consented.
- Advertising data. We display adverts through Google AdSense and its partners. Where you consent, these partners may use cookies and similar technologies to show personalised adverts and measure their performance. Where you do not consent, adverts are still shown but are not personalised.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical information, including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not run accounts, newsletters or comments unless stated on the relevant page.
Legal bases. We rely on your consent for analytics and advertising cookies, which you give or refuse through our cookie banner and can change at any time. We rely on legitimate interests for responding to your emails and for keeping the site secure.
Third parties we use
- Google (Analytics and AdSense). See Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Our hosting provider, which processes technical data on our behalf.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where data is transferred internationally, it is protected by the safeguards those providers put in place, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep data. Emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your query and our records. Analytics data is retained according to the retention period set in Google Analytics. Cookie lifetimes are set by the provider of each cookie.
Your rights. Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to contact@vetcostguide.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children. This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children.
Changes. We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
